Hi Friends.. Today i'm gonna share a simple sambar recipe which goes well with Dosa, Pongal and Rice. This recipe takes very less time and effort. This sambar helps you in case of emergencies & office rush.
Ingredients :
1) Toor Dal (Thuvaram paruppu) - 2 Cups
2) Sliced Onions - 1 Cup
3) Chopped Tomatoes - 2 Cups
4) Sliced Green Chilly - 2 Nos
5) Mustard (kadugu) - 1 Teaspoon
6) Cumin seeds (Jeeragam) - 1 Teaspoon
7) Fenugreekk (Venthayam) - 1/2 Teaspoon
8) Asafoetida powder - 2 pinch
9) Curry Leaves - 2 to 3 Bunch
10) Chopped Coriander Leaves - 1/2 Cup
11) Sambar Powder - 3 Teaspoon
12) Salt - As requied
13) Water - 3 cups
14) Oil - 3 Tablespoon
Preparation :
1) Boil the toor dal in a cooker for 2 whistles.
2) Heat oil in a cooker.
3) Add Mustard seeds, Cumin seeds, Fenugreek & Asafoetida. Let it splutter.
4) Add slitted chillies & curry leaves.
5) After frying it. add the onions and fry until golden brown.
6) Now add the tomatoes & salt. Mix well.
7) Add sambar powder & fry until the raw smell goes.
8) Now add the boiled dal & required amount of water.
9) Close the cooker lid & let it whistle twice.
10) After 5 minutes, open the cooker & pour the sambar to a vessel.
11) Decorate it with chopped coriander leaves.
Now steaming sambar is ready to taste. This is a perfect side-dish for Pongal & Dosa. I hope you enjoyed this recipe.
