Red Velvet Cake

Hi Friends.. <3 <3

"Red Velvet Cake" is a very Popular n famous Cake, all over the world. All Cake Lovers like me, should really give it a try. As a food blogger, it was always my dream to make this popular cake. At last, this week i collected all the required ingredients, and i decided to bake it for my parents wedding day... :-) That was a great idea, because this Cake's taste was awesome and the color was also astonishing :-) This is such an exquisite cake to try out for a special occasion. A heart shaped red velvet cake and cute little cup cakes for my sweet and lovable parents (year 2014) . It was a big hit, everyone just loved it.. !! :-) I was also so happy in accomplishing my dream... :-) :-)

Ingredients :

1 Maida / All Purpose Flour 1/2 cup
2 Unsalted Butter 100 gm
3 Oil 1/2 cup
4 Sugar 1 1/2 cup
5 Egg 2
6 Butter Milk 1 cup
7 Red Liquid Food Color 3-4 tbsp
8 Baking Soda 1 tsp
9 Vanilla Essence 1 tsp
10 Cocoa Powder 2 tbsp
11 Instant Coffee Powder 1/2 tsp
12 Salt 1/2 tsp
13 White Vinegar

1 tsp

Preparation :

1) Sieve Maida along with Salt, Coffee Powder and Cocoa Powder. Keep aside.
2) Grease the Baking Tray and Muffin Cups with Butter and Keep aside. Dust with flour if you wish or use a parchment paper instead. (I used Silicone mould)
3) Mix the Red Liquid food color in the Butter milk and keep it aside. You can make Buttermilk from Curd, bu adding water and Curd in 1:1 ratio. (Or if you don't have Curd, add 1tsp vinegar to 1 cup of milk n set aside, beat it once it gets curdled )
4) Beat the butter until it becomes soft, then add sugar and beat well, until it becomes fluffy and white in color.
5) Add eggs to this butter sugar mixture, one at a time and beat well. Add vanilla essence and once again beat well. Add oil and beat until its combined.
6) Now preheat the Oven for 10 minutes at 180°c or preheat the vessel with a lid on, if you're baking in a stovetop.
7) Now alternatively add Maida and Buttermilk little at a time, to the above mixture and mix it gently without any lumps.
8) Now take Vinegar in a bowl, add the baking soda and mix well. It starts bubbling, immediately pour it to the above prepared batter and mix well.
9) Pour this batter in the muffin cups. Fill it till 3/4th level, leave some space for the cake to rise.
10)Bake this for about 15 minutes (for cup cake) and 45 minutes (for the big heart shaped cake) at 180 degree Celsius for 30 to 35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the cake, comes out clean.
11) Leave it to cool. Then transfer it to an air tight container and refrigerate for 1 hour.
12) Now you can do the frosting as you wish. I made cream cheese frosting and decorated the cake.

I'll upload homemade Cream cheese recipe in my next blog.

Now the Yummy n Colorful "Red Velvet Cake" is ready to be served... :-) Enjoyyy..!!!Please try this cake and give me your feedback. Take Care... :-)
