Karthigai Pori Urundai

This is a traditional recipe prepared during the KARTHIGAI festival as neivedhyam. This is a simple and easy to make sweet recipe, Just be cautious with the jaggery consistency. I prepared this recipe for the first time and it came out so well..!! :-) Im so happyyyyyy... Lets get into the recipe now...

Ingredients :

1 Powdered Jaggery 1 cup
2 Water 1/2 cup
3 Coconut Chunks 1/2 cup
4 Roasted Gram (Pottu Kadalai) 1/4 cup
5 Ghee 2 teaspoons
6 Puffed Rice (Pori) 2 to 3 cups

Preparation :

1) Fry the coconut peices & roasted gram using ghee & Keep this aside.
2) Mix the jaggery in water using a spoon.
3) Once the jaggery dissolves well, filter this solution to remove the impurities.
4) Heat this solution in stove until it thickens and reaches the ball consistency.
5) Now switch off the stove and add the fried items & mix well.
6) Add the puffed rice & simultaneously mix it well.
7) Now apply some ghee in your hands and shape this into balls, before it cools down.
Delicious Karthigai pori urundai is ready. You can add cardamon powder if needed.

Jaggery Consistency : Once the jaggery solution starts thickening, you just take a little & drop it in a bowl of water. Make it as a ball and throw it in the bowl, if you hear a noise, it means you've reached the consistency.
